This website has been set up to raise funds for the ongoing care of 14 year old Charlotte Robinson from Chiswick, West London who contracted meningococcal disease, septicemia and meningitis on 29 May 2006 while on a trip with friends to Alton Towers. Charlotte spent the next four months fighting desperately for her life in intensive care departments at North Staffordshire Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent, Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. With wonderful medical and nursing care, and the support of family at her bedside (to say nothing of her devoted teddy - see the photos below!), she has miraculously survived a series of life-threatening events and complications. She has narrowly survived and will require ongoing care and support for life. She is making remarkable progress and, with a transfer back to Great Ormond Street at the beginning of October 2006, has now been moved from 'intensive care' to 'high dependency'. She is now at a stage where interaction with friends and family is crucial and visitors would be very welcome. We are making progress towards our mission to raise £100,000 for Charlotte's Trust - please see the Fundraising page for details of events during the remainder of 2006. Preparations are well underway for her eventual return home and the purpose of the Trust is to help provide the ongoing care, support and equipment that will be needed to aid this brave girl achieve the quality of life she has fought for so strongly.
